Fresh wholesome ingredients are our power for making a flour free bagel delicious and healthy here at Pop-Up BreadFlower. Here are five bagel ideas to help you fuel up and stay light on your feet for everything the day throws at you.

Whole Grain Bagel with Avocado and Egg

My favorite, any-time-of-the-day power-up bagel combo is a whole grain one topped with an avocado and egg. Whole grains contain complex carbs, which provide long-term energy; avocados are loaded with healthy fats and eggs muscle-building protein.

Toast a whole grain bagel, then spread each half with mashed avocado and top with one poached or fried egg. Season with salt, pepper and hot sauce if you like some spice! This is a filling and nourishing combination that works particularly well on busy mornings.

Peanut Butter and Banana Bagel

The peanut butter and banana bagel is a good one to choose if you want something both sweet & satisfying. Peanut butter is a good source of protein and healthy fats, while bananas contain potassium and natural sugars that deliver an instant energy kick. Toast a plain or whole-grain bagel and smother each half with peanut butter. Cut a banana and lay the slices on top of the peanut butter.

Drizzle some honey, and sprinkle chia seeds for the extra sweetness with a crunch. They are tasty and leave you nourished for hours.

Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese Bagel

My go to bagel that is both high end and a pick me up-my choice would be smoked salmon/cream cheese. Smoked salmon delivers omega-3 fatty acids and protein, while cream cheese has a hearty texture along with healthy fats. Toast a plain bagel and smear both halves thickly with cream cheese.

Layer slices of smoked salmon and then add capers, thinly sliced red onion and fresh dill. The result is a delicious, hearty bagel that’ll keep you going and full of energy for hours.

Hummus and Veggie Bagel

Hummus is the best energy food plant-based style. Hummus has plant protein and fiber plus you eat it with fresh veg as well for a dose of vitamins which is always great. Toast a whole grain bagel and spread with lots of hummus on both sides.

Add sliced cucumber, Tomato & Red Bell pepper with some Spinach or Arugula. Add a tad of salt and pepper, and you’re left with something crunchy that will make your day.

Almond Butter and Berry Bagel

Another one of my favorites is the sweet bagel which has homemade almond butter and berries. Almond butter will provide plenty of protein and healthy fats, with the berries not only adding antioxidants but all-natural sugar for a few extra carbs.

I toast a 100% whole grain (must say “whole”) bagel and spread an overly generous layer of maranatha no-stir almond butter on each side. Sprinkle with a few fresh blueberries, strawberries or raspberries (or your berry of choice) If you like, sprinkle on some granola or flax meal for a little crunch and flavor. The most ideal time to eat this bagel is f or a quick breakfast boost that will keep you energized and happy throughout your morning.

Spinach and Feta Bagel

The spinach/feta bagel is my go-to when I want something savories and protein-rich. Fresh basil, mint and spinach deliver all the luxurious tastes flavor profiles a salad needs to get away with leaving out the bacon (or other meat), and feta cheese can put up a good fight on its own too. To make: toast a whole grain bagel and spread cream cheese sparingly over each side.

Take a few baby spinach leaves and sauté in with the bacon until wilted, spoon on top of bagel together with crumbled feta cheese Then, add a little black pepper and the juice of 1/2 lemon. A delicious food, this bagel can give you the nutrients and energy that your body needs.

Greek Yogurt and Honey Bagel

Greek yogurt and honey make for a dreamy, sweet bagel. It is High in Protein and Probiotics which help to ease digestion by replenishing the good bacteria in your gut hence making you feel full for longer hours.

Top half of a whole grain bagel with Greek yogurt Top with a drizzle of honey and sprinkle sliced almonds on top. This bagel is light and fresh, ideal breakfast recipe when you are in need of a quick energy.

Turkey and Avocado Bagel

The turkey and avocado bagel is the wholesome choice you should be going for. Fatty avocado gives this sandwich a deliciously creamy finish and, in harmony with turkey’s lean protein content, serves as an excellent source of sustained energy. Now take a whole grain bagel, toast it and spread just the faintest slice of Swiss — you could certainly use mayonnaise or mustard instead if short on time.

Then layer sliced turkey, avocado and a few greens. Season with salt, pepper and a slice of tomato on top Not for a while; nothing can deny this bagel being that solid meal that powers you through the day
